They were returning to Shreveport from a small duck looking lake in the vicinity of Lake Charles, Louisiana, in a very Grumman Mallard plane without deicing technique. The wings iced up on approach to landing in Shreveport, plus the aircraft misplaced altitude. Among the list of wings hit cypress stumps along with the plane crashed from the shore.
